Aug. 19, Bara, Police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a three-year-old girl in Bhaktinagar, Jitpursimara Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Bara. Preliminary investigation indicates that the child was sexually assaulted before she was killed.

The girl had reportedly gone missing from her home at around 8:30 a.m. on August 16, 2026 (Bhadra 31, 2083 BS). Her body was found two days later, on August 18 (Bhadra 2, 2083 BS), inside an empty room of a one-storey, tile-roofed house belonging to Bir Bahadur Roka in Bhaktinagar.

Following the discovery, teams from the Area Police Office, Simara, and the District Police Office, Bara, began investigating the case. A specialist investigation team from the Nepal Pradesh Police Office, Birgunj, including a sniffer dog, was also deployed to assist in the investigation.

According to the preliminary findings, an approximately 16-year-old boy from Jitpursimara-2 allegedly lured the child with chocolate and took her to the location where the incident occurred. Police said the initial investigation indicates that the child was sexually assaulted and subsequently killed.

During the investigation, police arrested the 16-year-old assistant driver of a Magic van bearing registration number Na. 1 Ja 7758. They also arrested 24-year-old Progress Chaudhary of Jitpursimara-1, who is identified as the owner of the same vehicle.

Both suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the involvement, if any, of each person.
