New body takes lead of NELTA, Parsa

A new executive team of Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association (NELTA), Parsa has been formed under the chair of Rajeshwar Prasad Yadav amid 7th annual general meeting held in Birgunj on Saturday.

Laxmi Kumari Singh, Rambharos Mahato, Prabin Chaudhary, and Juli Kumari Karn have been elected as vice-chair, secretary, joint-secretary, and treasurer respectively. Dipendra Prasad Kanu, Divya Nakarmi, Bandana Jha, Tapindar Kaur, Jaynath Pandit, Mehnaz Sheikh and others have been elected as the executive members of the newly formed team.

The new team was elected in the presence of Dr. Binod Kumar Sah, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Yadav and past chairman of NELTA Parsa, Kedar Prasad Sah followed by an inaugural session chaired by the former president Ramawadhesh Ray Yadav, where Arvindalal Karn the executive head of education unit of Birgunj metropolis was the chief guest. Umesh Kumar Mishra, the principal of Siddhartha Secondary school, Dr. Binod Kumar Sah, Madhesh Province head of NELTA, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Yadav, trainer and ELT practitioner, Rajendra Koirala, the principal of Gyanda were among other distinguished guests of the program.

Arvindalal Karn the executive head of education unit of Birgunj metropolis stressed on the need of quality education with the support of English teachers. He also questioned the ability of the teachers for showing vast gap between practical marks granted by the teachers without proper judgment and theoretical marks obtained by the students in the final exams. ‘How can a student obtaining A+ in practical marks get ‘Not Graded’ (NG)?’, he questioned. Karn also showed his commitment to improving the quality education of Birgunj with the help of subjective teachers of the concerned schools, where a plenty of students have got ‘NG’ in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) of 2080 BS.

Likewise, Rajendra Koirala asked the teachers teaching English to come forward and update themselves giving up their ego and pride in order to tackle the prevailing challenges in almost all the schools, while giving his best-wishes speech.

A workshop on ICT-assisted ELT was also held by Dr. Binod Kumar Sah, the chairman of Madhesh Province and Dr. Dinesh Kumar Yadav jointly just after the inaugural session for the participants from various schools of Birgunj.

“Total number of life members of NELTA, Parsa along with the income-expenditure part of the organization was not made transparent even among a few members present in the AGM”, complained one of the members on animosity.
